FREDERIQUE CONSTANT MOON TIMER

Frederique Constant Moon TimerInspired by the Moon

Who doesn't enjoy gazing up at the moon from time to time? We have all stood outside on a cloudless night, and looked up to a clear sky, dotted with stars. Of course the object that stands out most is the

Moon.

Since the dawn of man, the moon has been the centerpiece of numerous reactions and beliefs. Religions, scientific theories, superstitions, and political agendas have been derived from the moon. One thing that has fascinated us is the "shadows" that seem to fall on the Moon. These shadows are assumed by most to be the earth blocking the sun's rays on the Moon. In fact, this is a false assumption.

We see the different stages of the moon because of the position of the Earth and the Sun. The angle from which the light hits the Moon determines how we view the Moon.

The Earth completes one rotation every 24 hours as opposed to the moon, which takes 29.5 days. During these phases, the moon goes through a cycle that we can all watch and chart. The Frederique Constant Moon Timer plays homage to the Moon. The watch depicts the phases of the Moon in a subtle display at 6 O'clock.

Powered by the delicately decorated automatic cal. FC-330 movement beating at 28’800 Bph and exposed through a see-through case back, the Frederique Constant Moon Timer is a beautiful timepiece. The design of this classical model is ultra clean and functional. The watch is presented on a hand-sewn leather strap as well as on a sporty-elegant stainless steel bracelet. Aligned

with the different available dial variations, straps come in dark brown and deep black.

The new Frederique Constant Runabout Moonphase & Date - The Star of Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance in Carnelian Bay, California

Lake Tahoe, September 2011 - On August 12 & 13, 2011, more than 100 classic and antique boats and over 5,000 visitors gathered at one of the world’s most renowned mountain lakes.

[[MORE]]The 39th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance in Carnelian Bay, CA took center stage, showcasing the best vintage boats from North America, and competing in 13 specialized classes for top honors and triumphant glory.

The award-winning boat was a 1939 Gar Wood. A 19 foot runabout with 103 horse-power 6 cylinder Chrylser engine, owned by Jonathan and Jean Trevillyan of Acton, CA. The 1939

Gar Wood was awarded the best Marque Class and Best Overall Boat in Show. Jonathan and Jean Trevillyan were also bestowed with an example of a Frédérique Constant Runabout timepiece.

Since 2009, Swiss watch manufacturer Frédérique Constant celebrates the legendary Runabout yachts of the roaring 20s by offering an attractive series of limited edition timepieces named “Runabout”.

To complete the best-selling range, the Geneva-based brand introduces a new version: The Runabout Moonphase & Date. Featuring a case diameter of 43mm and presented in stainless steel or rose gold plated, the new Runabout Moonphase & Date watches offer finely decorated silvered dials. With a delicate guilloche decoration at the centre, hand-applied Arabic indexes, perfectly positioned Day, Date and Moonphase indicators. These watches exude an uncluttered elegance, just like the Runabout yachts by which they are inspired. Through the engraved sapphire case-back, the decorated automatic movement

can be admired. Traditionally, each Runabout timepiece comes with its own luxurious, handmade wooden case that echoes the passionate craftsmanship of the yachts. Alongside the watch, a miniature reproduction of a classic Runabout boat can be found inside the unique gift box. Like all Frederique Constant Runabout watches, these models are available in a limited quantity of just 1,888 pieces per material.

To promote the Runabout Collection, Frédérique Constant was honored to be the Official Sponsor of the 39th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance Wooden Boat Show, at the North shore of Lake Tahoe in Carnelian Bay, California, USA. Frédérique Constant invited press and retailers from around the globe to enjoy the weekend festivities of one of the finest and most renowned boating events.

Throughout the event Frédérique Constant promoted the outstanding Runabout Collection to the public with its significant presence at the show, allowing the public to admire the beauties from every angle. As majestic as yachts afloat on Lake Tahoe, the Runabout Collection captures the pristine quality of Lake Tahoe in combination with the surpassing craftsmanship of a Swiss-engineered design.

More about Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance

The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance Wooden Boat Show was founded by members of the Tahoe Yacht Club in 1972. Hosted annually by the Club’s Foundation since 1994, it is regarded internationally as the premier event for maritime enthusiasts. For its 39th year, the Foundation had selected ‘Gar Wood, the Gentleman’s Runabout’ as featured Marque Class. These luxurious and powerful “aristocrats of motorboats” were first introduced in 1922 by inventor, industrialist and record setting speedboat racer Garfield A. Wood and are a fan favorite. The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance showcased over 100 antique boats this year and drew more than 5,000 participants and visitors. The goal of the Foundation is to maintain the heritage of wooden boating while providing an entertaining and learning experience for all to enjoy. After the past years, with proceeds from the Concours, the charitable Foundation has awarded more than $250,000 in grants to non-profit organizations in the Tahoe Basin to advance maritime education. At Frederique Constant we love happy customers!

At Frederique Constant we love happy customers!

See herewith an email we received today from one of them:

"Dear Sirs,

I have been following your company since 1997 and you have built a truly admirable brand which has really remained true to its values.
My first exposure was on the internet and in the early days I remember you used to have a couple of models in your own webstore which shipped globally.

Living and working in the Middle East , is was a little difficult to make a purchase decision without having "touched" a specimen.

Its now 16 years later and I have bought my first four FC watches this month (two mens & two ladies pieces) including two of the magnificient Runabout limited editions. The finish & detail on these watches is really on par with other iconic brands and they are really a pleasure to wear.

I also enjoy the fact that the value on your timepieces is not bloated with the outrageous marketing costs that so many of the "super luxury" brands tack onto their merchandise.

Thank you & best regards from a satisfied customer!"

The Other Side of the Moon... Day 26 Gorgan to Rasht

OCTOBER 5TH, 2010

Peking to Paris Motor Challenge update. More about the race here

Dany and Joel Rollinger - Alfa Romeo Mata

Today started in darkness. It had been a remarkable night, even by rallying standards. On arrival at the hotel, we had been told that the President would be paying a visit to Gorgan, and therefore all the rooms would be taken over by his troop of bodyguards. So, the Iran Automobile Federation go into bat, and this is cancelled – we can have our rooms back.

Something got lost in the translation and when push came to shove – and it’s now late into the night – we find the entire rally of over 200 people has on offer just 15 rooms. This was sorted rapidly by Heidi and the camaraderie and goodwill of the rally, who all agreed that each room would be shared by eight. This was lightened somewhat when 20 agreed to erect their tents on the flat roof of the hotel.

Adrian and Barbara Shooter - Ford Model A

Some of the crews got in very late, and the sweeps, Peter and Betty Banham arrived at 4.30am, snatched half an hour of sleep before starting off again.

So, at just gone 5.0am this morning, the first car fired into life for the run from Gorgan to our coastal resort by beach of the Caspian Sea, another long haul of some 650 kilometres. Car 50, Detlev Borner and Peter Gillespie’s ’29 Studebaker President, rolled out of the hotel car park. The two were to have an eventful day, as they were to stop four times with the unusual problem of wheels breaking up. They opted to take the “coast road” route using the map-book supplied to each crew, instead of the suggested roads of the route-book which ran over a mountain range, and through some stunning scenery, on brilliant tarmac – not a pothole in sight – and traffic-free.

The roads in the hills just inland from the coast road of the Caspian Sea might as well be on the far side of the Moon – you sweep from corner to corner on perfectly maintained road surfaces, a big contrast to everything that has gone before us. As you drive through villages, locals all join in impromptu waves…wherever we go, we get the feeling that local Iranians are pleased to see us. One village had put up a series of hand-drawn banners across the streets.

Quite a few other crews opted for the shorter route of the coast, and by 7.0am, most were now on the road.

We have arrived at a town near Rasht that nobody has heard of, where Alastair Caldwell immediately jumped onto his Alfa engine to begin the tedious task of trying to change the head gasket in the dark. To make matters more trying, it has also started to rain heavily.

Our hotel is greatly improved, some of us are in villas in the garden overlooking the sandy beach, and we have all tucked into lamb kofta and rice, or local fish.

Farewell Mongolia... Day 12 Khovd to Border

SEPTEMBER 21ST, 2010

Peking to Paris Motor Challenge update. More about the race here

A stunning view for David and Sarah Rayner - BMW 321 Coupe - on the final day in Mongolia

Our final full day in Mongolia, and the scenery has been breathtaking, one of the finest days rallying since we left China. The punishment has been relentless, and the Volvo PV544 of Nicholas Pryor and Lesley Stockwell are limping into camp with axle failure.

Several crews are staggering on to the Russian border as “walking wounded”. We know that Car 6, the big La France, is on a truck, so it car 3, Daniel Ward’s 1919 Lancia Theta, The Shooter’s Ford, Car 29, lost its gears today and is on a truck but spares are lined up later down the route, the Renault 4CV, Car 89, had a temporary fix of its front suspension but it didn’t last long. The Vauxhall Viva GT has suffered electrical problems, diagnosed as a failed condenser.
Driving the Impossible

The handsome lead achieved by Gerry Crown in his Holden was maintained today, despite the fact that Gerry has finally decided that driving one-handed is just too much. He has his left wrist in a splint, and he is on doctor’s orders to give the arm maximum rest... he reckons its just an old war-wound of too much gearchanging in too many past rallies, so today, he handed the steering wheel over to young Matt Bryson, his navigator.

We suspect this meant that Matt had to work the GPS, on top of driving. Matt looked as if he was under pressure when we pulled our tent-pegs out of the frozen grassland first thing this morning. The son of John Bryson, top Australian navigator who sat alongside the likes of Andrew Cowan to win the Southern Cross Rally more than once, Matt was realising he had rather a lot on his shoulders.

Michael Thompson and Andrew Davies - Chrysler 75 Roadster - splash through another river crossing

However, he rose to challenge by setting the best times on all three tests, and delivering an extended lead in the Classics Category for the Holden over the second placed Anadol of Ongun and Tokcan. This unusual car was made in Turkey with the help of Reliant – it has an “over heavy” Reliant chassis, according to its driver, a fibreglass body, with a rear design similar to a Gilbern or Alfa GTV, and a Ford Mexico Kent engine of 1600cc.

Today’s final run to our camp site consisted of several glorious valleys with far reaching views, some horrendous roads, and five river crossings. The final Time Trial had a maze of roads wandering off at angles to the main track, and at times, looked totally confusing, as nothing was very clear which was the main track….the navigators for sure decided the best results on this one, as it took an agile ability to mix trip-meter with Tulip road book and GPS while trying to read the road to chose the best course.

Tomorrow, we are off to the Russian border. Another country, and another stack of adventures in store, now awaits. At 9.0pm, all are accounted for, except that the Rolls Royce of Richard Auchincloss is on a tow-rope with Simon Ayris in attendance, and the Volvo is awaiting a similar rescue. Their dinner is going cold…

Frederique Constant Passion Awards for Charity

Frederique Constant hosted the glamorous Passion Awards for Charity Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street, awarding the American Heart Association with a $50,000 check for their charitable efforts to prevent heart disease and stroke.[[MORE]]

Frederique Constant’s Founder & CEO Peter Stas presented the check to Senior Vice President Helaine Baruch of the American Heart Association, witnessed by over 80 guests.

Just as Frederique Constant’s success was built on passion, the people behind the American Heart Association passionately go ‘the extra mile’ to keep America’s hearts healthy. Actress Candice Accola from CW’s hit show The Vampire Diaries attended to accept the check together with Helaine Baruch.

Helaine Baruch said: “Like Frederique Constant, the American Heart Association is also driven by passion. All of our work is done with one goal in mind – to create a world free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. That’s our passion.”

Candice Accola said: “This evening as we speak about passion, Frederique Constant has recognized the American Heart Association for it's passionate work in saving lives. The American Heart Association continues to remind us of the importance of keeping a healthy heart. And after all, doesn't passion come from the heart?”

The overriding factor for the success of Frederique Constant has been Passion. Passion that made Peter & his wife Aletta evolve from lovers of fine watches into global producers. This is why the company slogan has always been ‘Live your Passion’. And why for the third time, Peter & Aletta are proud to announce the Frederique Constant Passion Awards. Through these awards, they personally aim to reward charitable organizations that are driven by Passion, and celebrate and support their entrepreneurial success. The Passion Awards have evolved in to an institution through which Frederique Constant gives back to society, and namely to people that are less fortunate.

Peter Stas said: “ Driven by Passion since we started our company, Frederique Constant is very honored tonight to award the American Heart Association and their passionate projects to safe lives. We wish and hope that our donation will permit them to actualize their goal.” Winners of the previous editions of the Frédérique Constant Passion Awards are Dr. William Novick of the International Children's Heart Foundation and Mrs. Laura Cotton of the Paint a Smile Foundation.
